Doctoral studies price list, payment, refund terms and condition
Tuition fees for Doctoral curriculum students starting their studies from the academic year 2023/2024 (also applies to Doctoral curriculum students starting their studies from the academic year 2022/2023):
1.nThe tuition fee is paid once a month according to the payment schedule from the beginning until the end of studies. The nominal period of studies for the Doctoral programme is 4 years.
- Amount of the tuition fee instalment: 600€
- Based on individual agreements, the payment of the Doctoral tuition fee can also be otherwise besides financial (or a combination of several methods).
- For students with visa requirements the first instalment invoice at the beginning of the studies will be for 6 months in total of 3600€; afterwards, the students will be able to pay monthly basis.
2. Tuition fee payment schedule:
- There are 12 instalments per calendar year (12*600€).
- 1st instalment of the payment schedule – 15 September
- Last instalment of the payment schedule – upon submission of the doctoral thesis for final defence.
3. Terms of suspension of the payment schedule:
- Academic leave (shall take effect on the 15th day following the submission of the application);
- Deleted from the matriculation register;
- Submission of doctoral thesis for final defence.
4. The tuition fee includes:
- Supervising the Doctoral thesis;
- All courses in the curriculum, seminars and pedagogical internship – 60 ECTS in the programme’s classical track and 45 ECTS in the applied track;
- Expenses related to the defence process of the Doctoral thesis, incl. reviewers/opponents fee and travel costs, committee members fees, Doctoral thesis printing costs (10 copies for the defender) and layout costs – 180 ECTS;
- Courses in the MyEBS platform’s course catalogue;
- The applied component’s preparation, testing, and validation are not included – 15 ECTS in the applied track.

- Price of the credit point (ECTS) in Doctoral studies is 120 €.
- Supervising the Doctoral thesis is fixed in the volume of 160 hours with the price of 90 €/ an hour, that corresponds by estimation to 15 hours per semester for first four semesters and 25 hours per semester for next four semesters. If necessary and upon prior agreement, the students can buy additional supervision with the price of 110 €/ an hour.
- Expenses related to the defence process of the Doctoral thesis, incl. reviewers/opponents fee and travel costs, committee members fees, Doctoral thesis printing costs (30 copies: 10 for the library, 10 for the university, 10 for the defender) and layout costs (except language editing) – 2800 €
- Doctoral students who start their studies from the academic year 2021/2022 and graduate within the nominal study period (during the calendar year) can get a refund of the tuition fee in the amount of 1 050 €. The tuition fee refund will be made after the nominal study period graduation.

Terms of payment of the tuition fee for students who started their studies before academic year 2022/2023:
The tuition fees are generally paid by a semester or half a semester on the following dates:
- Autumn semester:
15 September (semester and 1st half semester)
1 November (2nd half semester)
in case of paying tuition in four instalments additional dates: 15 October and 1 December
- Spring semester:
15 February (semester and 1st half semester)
1 April (2nd half semester)
in case of paying tuition in four instalments additional dates: 15 March and 1 May
- In the case of paying tuition in two or four instalments, an additional 35 € will be added to the invoice.
Partial or full waiver of a study service for students who started their studies before academic year 2022/2023:
Upon waiving a study service, the study service fee is refunded either partially or in full if the waiver is recorded in the EBS electronic registration system by the deadline specified in the table. In such a case, the new price of the study service per semester is calculated in accordance with this document and the waiving percentage is applied to the price difference.
