Using AI in your studies
EBS has finalised Using AI in your studies, a practical guide to using AI responsibly in your coursework. It explains how AI can support your learning, what you need to declare, and how to protect your work and the information you use.
You will find the guide here.
Please read it before using AI in an assessment. A few key points to keep in mind:
- Check the rules for each assessment. AI use falls into one of three categories: prohibited, limited or permitted. Read the assessment instructions and ask your instructor if anything is unclear.
- Keep responsibility for your work. Check AI-generated facts, quotations and references against the original sources, and make sure you can explain the work you submit. Keep your drafts and revision history.
- Be transparent about substantive AI use. The guide explains what needs to be declared and includes a declaration template you can attach to your work.
- Protect data and course materials. Do not enter personal or confidential information into AI tools, or upload copyrighted materials without permission.
The guide also explains your options if you do not wish to use AI, including a non-AI route where AI use is not a stated course learning outcome. You are not expected to purchase an AI subscription.
Keep the guide handy throughout your studies and read it alongside your course and assessment instructions. For questions about a particular assignment, contact your instructor before you begin. General questions about the guide can be sent to info@ebs.ee.
