Grading criteria and intended learning outcomes

The goals of the programme, module and course are defined as intended learning outcomes. Outcome-based studies are student-focused and require a purposeful learning from the student (unlike input-based studies where the emphasis is on teaching and the contents thereof).

Learning outcome encompasses the knowledge, skills and attitudes obtained in the course of learning and the existence and level of attainment that can be attested and evaluated. Learning outcomes are described at the minimum level required to complete a programme, module or a course. The attainment of the learning outcomes at a level exceeding the minimum is differentiated by evaluation.

Evaluation of learning outcomes is an integral part of the learning process, during which the level of acquired knowledge and skills of the student are evaluated on the basis of pre-specified evaluation criteria regarding the learning outcomes described in the programme. The evaluation methods and criteria are described in the course syllabus and program.

NB! Familiarise yourself with the learning outcomes and evaluation criteria as soon as a course starts, so that you would better understand on what to focus during the course and what the lecturer will take into account upon evaluation.
