Academic Writing & APA Style Guide – all sections
Annual reports, press releases, and investor or sustainability reports — a source type most style guides skip, but EBS theses use constantly.
APA doesn’t have a dedicated category for these — treat a company the same way APA treats any organizational author, and describe the document type in square brackets.
Annual report, sustainability report, or investor report
Template:Company Name. (Year). Title of report, e.g., Annual report 20XX [Report]. URL
Example:Company Name. (2024). Annual report 2023 [Report]. https://www.companyname.com/investors/annual-report-2023
In text:(Company Name, 2024) / Company Name (2024)
Note: Use the company’s full legal name as it appears on the report’s cover page. If you cite the same company’s reports from several years, the year in the in-text citation is what tells them apart.
Press release
Template:Company or Organization. (Year, Month Day). Title of press release [Press release]. URL
In text:(Company Name, Year)
Company webpage (e.g., “About Us”, investor relations page)
Template:Company Name. (n.d.). Title of page. Retrieved Month Day, Year, from URL
Note: Add “Retrieved [date], from” for pages likely to change over time (like a leadership team page) — this is one of the few cases APA still asks for a retrieval date.
