A source you found quoted or summarized inside another source, and haven’t read yourself.
Rule:Cite the original source in-text, but list only the secondary source — the one you actually read — in your reference list.
In text:Muñoz and Cohen’s 2018 study (as cited in Smith, 2021) found that…
Reference list:Only Smith, 2021 appears.
Note: Use secondary sources sparingly — always try to find and read the original first.
