Programmes and courses
The study process is organized according to the Academic Regulations and syllabi.
The curriculum is the main document of the study programme, which establishes the study objectives, learning outcomes, structure of studies, list and volume of studies in credit points, options and conditions, requirements for enrollment and graduation, the main language of instruction and the other languages of instruction necessary for the achievement of learning outcomes and nominal study period.
Study programmes are available in MyEBS. The programme has been divided into core subjects, specialized subjects, electives and optional courses.
The subjects in the study plan are mandatory.
The proportion of respective subjects may vary according to each year’s study plan.
As a rule the first study year covers core subjects. A student may choose an optional or an elective subject in the 2nd academic year.
There are 3 types of courses in the programme: compulsory, elective and optional.
A compulsory course is a course that must be passed in order to complete the programme.
An elective is a course from the list of fixed courses in the programme that must be passed in the required amount.
An optional course is a course freely chosen by the student from any programme and that is not a compulsory course of the student’s own programme. Optional courses may also be taken from other universities. Students have to take optional courses at least in the amount set by the programme. If a student wishes to enroll in optional courses in addition to the nominal semester course plan that does not include any optional courses, the student must pay extra for those ECTS based on the credit point price list.
Course workload is measured in credits and 1 European credit point (ECTS) equals 26 hours of work (both classroom and independent work).
