Extra funds for fewer opportunities and inclusion support

We understand that going abroad can be challenging due to different reasons and the biggest obstacle is often financial means. Erasmus+ programme has allocated special funds to support students who need it. There are two types: fewer opportunities and inclusion support. What is the difference?

Who is it meant for?1. students who receive or have received in previous semester needs-based support;
2. have underage children;
3. from foster care background;
4. with diminished work ability;
5. have chronic diseases or special needs related to health issues.
Students who need additional support in a specific form which cannot be covered by fewer-opportunities support.
Conditions for receiving the supportNeed to sign a declaration of honor (DOH) and in some cases produce extra documents. Need to fill an application based on the need. Also need to add supporting documents depending on the reason of applying.

Fewer opportunities support

Fewer opportunities is meant as an extra support on top of the regular monthly support. The student can inform the Erasmus+ Project Manager if they go under any of the categories.

Students who wish to receive top-up under category “students who receive or have received in previous semester needs-based support” need to also send in a document proving the status. That can be found in Haridusportaal Edu (same place where they apply for the support in the first place).

For other categories no supported document is generally needed but do note that Erasmus+ Project Manager has a right to ask for those to confirm eligibility.

Inclusion support

Inclusion support funding is available for participants with physical, mental or health-related conditions. The Erasmus+ mobility-related areas, for which additional support can be applied on the basis of individual needs, include (but are not limited to) the following:

– customized accommodation;

– travel assistance;

– medical assistance;

– support equipment;

– adaptation of study material;

– support person, etc.

In order to apply for the inclusion needs support, please contact the Erasmus+ Project Manager who assists in completing the application form.

Estonian National Agency who is responsible for overseeing Erasmus+ project in Estonia is making informed posts and information pages on how inclusion support works (also including examples when it can be used: Erasmus+ lisatoetuse võimalused õpirändes osalevatele tudengitele ja töötajatele – Erasmus+ | Erasmus+. At the moment it is only in Estonian but students can turn to project manager for translation and help in understanding it.
