New! Scholarship criteria

When you apply for your exchange studies abroad, you will make one application which has two results: your exchange studies destination and decision on scholarship. You might receive a spot in our partner university but not the scholarship depending on your results and how many candidates there are altogether.

To receive a scholarship, we look at three criteriums:

– GPA (gives you up to 5 points)

– Motivation Letter (gives you up to 5 points)

– your contribution to EBS (gives you up to 5 points)

In combination you have a chance to earn 15 points. We will make a ranking based on all the candidates, and students with top marks will receive first choice in partner universities as well as scholarships.

Overview of the different criteria and their calculation

GPA

Eligible student needs to have a GPA 3.00 or higher. We will transfer the GPA to points. So if your GPA is 3.96 then your points in GPA category are 3.96.

Motivation Letter

Motivation Letter is a text (around one 4A) which carries a title „How have I enriched the learning experience of the fellow students and what will my experience abroad give to others?“

In the text you should open up on your contribution to EBS in the past and future, once you return from your exchange semester(s). It shouldn’t be too formal nor too “full of big words”. We wish to see authentic and concrete motivation and your value to the Erasmus+ programme. Beside text you need to have a referral from one fellow student and one lecturer who can vouch for the written text and even contribute to your achievements and character (please note that just names are enough and if needed, we will contact said persons).

It is strictly forbidden to use AI for the motivation letter and using it will result in automatic 0 for the whole category.

Points breakdown:

+1 if there are both student and lecturer referrals

+1 if the motivation letter is fully written by yourself (no AI)

+3 will be the content of the text and how well the question in title is answered

So, for example:

– a student who has written a text themselves, has two referrals and wrote a decent motivation letter, will receive 1+1+2 points

– a student who has written a text with AI, has two referrals and an okay motivation letter, will receive 0 points

Contribution to EBS

We will give extra points for students who have been active in bettering EBS and making it an outstanding school. That means that students who have received for this academic year (2025/2026) an outstanding student scholarship, will receive some extra points.

Points breakdown:

– 1 point = 10% discount on tuition
– 2 points = 11%-19% discount on tuition
– 3 points = 20%-29% discount on tuition
– 4 points = 30%-39% discount on tuition
– 5 points = 40%-100% discount on tuition

If the student hasn’t received an outstanding student title this academic year (2025/2026), they won’t receive any points in this part.

Examples on fictional students

Student A: GPA is 4.51, motivation letter is 3 and they doesn’t have outstanding student scholarship = 8.51 points

Student B: GPA is 3.78, motivation letter is 5 and they have outstanding student discount for 10% = 9.78 points

Student C: GPA is 4.8, motivation letter is 0 (used AI) and doesn’t have outstanding student scholarship = 4.8 points

In this case student B will receive scholarship and first choice on the university, followed by student A and student C who will receive a spot in partner university but might not receive scholarship.
